Water safety

With our last bit of summer sunshine expected all week, it's a good reminder to think water safety and be water aware.

Even if the water looks appealing to cool off in, there is often hidden debris and a risk of cold water shock. Please learn about the risks and teach your children how to stay safe around open water.

There is advice from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service and helpful resources to show children from the Canal and River Trust.

If you see anyone in trouble in the water, call 999, tell them to float on their back and throw them a life ring or throw line if there is one available.
