Cycle September is coming to Slough next week!

Slough Borough Council has partnered with Love to Ride to bring a fun, free biking challenge to Slough, starting next week.

Powered by Love to Ride’s game-changing app, Cycle September has one simple mission - to get more people to enjoy the benefits of riding bikes.

By logging their bike trips on Love to Ride, riders can win great prizes, like £2,000 cash. Register before 1 September to go into an additional draw to win £1,000.

Riders of every level are invited to participate and can ride anywhere, anytime in September - even a 10-minute ride around the park will enter you into the draws. Getting out there in the fresh air and encouraging others is more important than the number of miles you ride.

Workplaces can also unleash their competitive side with the fun and friendly workplace competition. Co-workers can join their workplace profile on Love to Ride and compete to earn the most points and top the client area leaderboard in their size category.

Mars Wrigley and Royal Mail are among those signed up for Cycle September.

Councillor Paul Kelly, lead member for housing, highways, planning and transport, said: “Cycling is a great family activity, and can be something for leisure, commuting or exercise purposes. We hope people take part in this fun challenge and log their bike rides to be in with a chance to top the leaderboard and potentially win prizes."

There are already 48 workplaces and 601 people registered in Slough on the Love to Ride website.

Thomas Stokell, the CEO of Love to Ride highlighted the importance of cycling in today’s world, stating: “At a time when environmental issues, wellness, and money-saving are an important factor for many, there has never been a better time to ride a bike. We aim to create positive change through our cycling programs and to promote healthier, happier people, places and businesses.”

Here’s how to get involved:

● Sign up and register for the challenge at lovetoride.net
● Log your rides using the Love to Ride app. Download the app for Apple or Android devices - you can even turn on auto logging!
● Earn points - ride your bike and encourage others to earn points. More points = more entries into the draws.

Slough has a local cycling group called Slough Freewheelers who meet on a Saturday once a month for a bike ride. Find out more about the group and potential routes
