Calling Slough businesses – join our business partnership board

Slough Borough Council is calling on Slough business to come to a special event on 9 October – the launch of the new business partnership board.

Invites from the council’s chief executive, Will Tuckley, are being sent to the top 20 big businesses in the town, but the council also wants smaller businesses to be a part of the partnership.

Chief Executive Will Tuckley said: “The council has traditionally had strong ties with its business community but, when covid hit and our financial troubles began, we understandably looked inwards to solve them and our partnership working suffered.

“We want to reinvigorate our economic partnerships, strengthen the bonds we have in Slough and ensure Slough continues to be an economic success story for both business and our residents.

“Slough’s economic status remains robust and resilient and by working together we can make sure we work together on policies, programmes and investment plans for the future.”

Councillor Dexter Smith, Leader of the Council, said: “Slough is a town built around businesses like High Duty Alloys (HDA), which came to Slough Trading Estate in 1928 and provided many of the components needed for the British aircraft industry, supplying Europe’s largest aircraft production factory during World War II, which was in Langley.

“Today, we are fortunate to have large mainstays like Mars, through to hundreds of smaller companies making everything needed for modern living, and Slough has the world’s greatest concentration of data centres, putting us in the forefront of digitally enabling the future.

“We want to better connect with Slough’s businesses, and work with them to ensure they thrive and maximise the benefits to our town and everyone who lives and works here.”

The first board meeting will be held on 9 October at the Horlicks Quarter, Stoke Gardens, Slough, SL1 3QB.
