The annual #OneSlough Awards returned for 2024, bringing together more than 240 community members and leaders at Copthorne Hotel on Friday 15 November. This special evening, organised by Slough CVS, recognises the unwavering commitment of Slough’s volunteers, charities, and supportive businesses. It was an occasion that truly embodies the spirit of community, unity, and resilience that defines Slough. The #OneSlough Awards attracted an impressive 134 nominations this year—a new record for the event. Judges were tasked with the difficult job of selecting winners from a pool of deserving individuals and groups, each demonstrating outstanding dedication and impact in Slough. The evening commenced with a vibrant champagne reception, followed by a sumptuous Asian-inspired buffet. Guests were treated to live entertainment throughout the evening with Omari Johnson-Daley and Amina Khayyam Dance Company, continuing with the Awards ceremony, raffle and disco. Hosted by Dr. Priya Kumar and #OneSlough volunteer, Robert Stedmond, the event featured opening remarks by the Leader of Slough Borough Council, Cllr Dexter Smith and a keynote address by Tessa Lindfield, Public Health Lead at Slough Borough Council. Representatives from Slough Borough Council and the NHS presented 18 trophies and certificates to this year’s winners and highly commended recipients, celebrating their exceptional contributions to Slough. Asma Aziz, CEO, Slough CVS, said: “What an unforgettable evening at the #OneSlough Volunteer Awards! A massive thank you to everyone who joined us—it was truly inspiring to celebrate the incredible people and groups who put their hearts into making Slough a better place.
