Kitten killer sentenced |
||
A man who threw a defenceless kitten to its death from his flat in Slough has been sentenced in court. On 3 September 2024 Abdul Amir threw a very young kitten from his flat’s third storey balcony at The Warehouse, Horlicks Quarter whilst it was alive to its death on the concrete below. There were several witnesses who reported this senseless act to the police, who recovered the kitten’s body and alerted the council. An entry warrant was executed with urgency by Slough Borough Council officers at Abdul Amir’s flat to ensure that there were no other animals present. During this warrant, evidence was found to confirm that Abdul Amir did own a kitten. The kitten’s body was then subject to an autopsy, which proved the kitten was alive when it was thrown from the balcony. On conclusion of the investigation, Abdul Amir appeared in Slough Magistrates’ Court on 13 June where he pleaded guilty to an Animal Welfare Act section 4 offence of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal. No explanation was ever given as to why he threw his kitten to its death on the evening concerned. Abdul Amir then appeared in Slough Magistrates’ Court on 12 September when he was sentenced to a Disqualification Order for 10 years from keeping any type of animal, a fine of £192, a victim surcharge of £114, and a community order for 18 months and a nominal contribution to costs. Cllr Ejaz Ahmed, lead member for communities, sport, leisure, and public protection, said: “Thank you to the witnesses that came forward and promptly reported this horrific act, ensuring that the person responsible for this serious offence, involving a very young kitten being thrown to its death, could be brought to justice.” | ||
